Citycon’s Iso Omena shopping centre, located in the Helsinki metropolitan area, has been awarded as the best large shopping centre expansion project in Europe by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).

Iso Omena is the first Finnish shopping centre to be awarded in the ICSC competition, which has been organised annually since 1977.

In addition, the shopping centre and its owner, Citycon, were recognised by the ICSC with a ReSource award for long-term commitment to sustainable development.

The expansion of Iso Omena was completed in 2017. It’s one of Finland’s largest shopping centres with 100 000 square metres of gross leasable floor space and over 200 shops and services, including a cinema and activity park, as well as metro and bus stations.

“Iso Omena is Citycon’s largest shopping centre and the crown jewel of our portfolio,” said Sanna Yliniemi, vice president of operations development at Citycon. “It represents our vision for a successful shopping centre concept in the 2020s. It is great that Iso Omena has been noticed and awarded by ICSC in its international competition.”
