Slush kicks off today
Tech and startup event Slush brings the buzz to Finland’s capital, with a smorgasbord of speakers, innovations, investors and side events.
The soggy morning greeting early arrivals to Slush couldn’t be more appropriate.
Having long ago outgrown its humble origins as a student-led gathering of hundreds back in 2008, the event is now the most significant startup happening in Europe.
This year’s roll call includes 20 000 attendees, 2 600 startups, 1 600 investors and 600 journalists, along with a star-studded lineup of guest speakers.
Local startups will be front and centre over the two days, highlighting the innovations pouring out of Finland in the fields of health, circular economy, next-generation learning, AR/VR and a multitude of others.
“It’s only getting started,” Slush CEO Andreas Saariobserved, when asked about the state of the Finnish startup scene.
“There’s a massive new wave of high-quality companies growing and being founded right now. It’s definitely a vibrant scene, and one of the fastest-growing ones.
